My Street Photography Gear 2023

When going on long photo walks the size or number of gears you take matters, well at least for me. So whenever I go for one, this setup is mostly my go-to. Since shifting to a mirrorless system I was able to minimize the size of my gears, size for me is the main advantage of going mirrorless. I could always opt to simplify this even further by just bringing 1 camera body but using just prime lenses and me experimenting with the 35mm focal length (50mm full frame equivalent) I needed to bring 2 – The Fujifilm XE-3 and my favorite the Fujifilm X100s.

Each camera has a different focal range prime lens which is the 7Artisans 35mm f 1.4 II (50mm equiv) on the XE-3 and a 23mm f2 (35mm equiv) built-in on the X100s. I wish I had a wider prime lens but I cannot justify another purchase since I already have the fantastic and versatile Fujifilm 18-55, which is my go-to lens when traveling with family, and wanted a do-it-all autofocus lens. I fitted my cameras and some essentials on my Peak design sling camera bag knockoff. If you’ve read a few of my blogs before you should know that I am a cheap ass but still look for quality when buying alternatives, and this Peak design knockoff is fantastic!

The 5-liter sling bag is spacious enough to fit 2 cameras and all my essentials

For essentials, I usually have my wallet, phone, power bank, and a few extra batteries. We all know extra batteries are a must when using mirrorless cameras. I also have with me a pair of wireless earphones although I don’t recommend using them while shooting especially if you are looking to immerse yourself in your environment/subject. I use them mostly on downtimes and when getting my groove on (building momentum on shooting on the street), but to each their own. If I really tried, I can still fit a thin extra shirt on the bag. I also have with me an SD card to lightning dongle for easy file transfer to my phone. The XE-3 has built-in wifi but the Fujifilm app is a pain to use.

So there you have it, my go-to street photography gear for 2023. I do have a few camera bags and cameras still so I might do a blog about those too in the future and how I mixed and match things to adapt to my needs. As always, thank you for reading and please don’t forget to follow me on my socials. 🙂
