Good news everyone! The National Museum complex reopens today (July 19, 2021) in celebration of the birthday of our National hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal. Though I don’t plan on going anytime soon, the news got me excited. Excited enough that I wrote about it. I was actually in the process of writing a different blog until I heard about the reopening. I though to myself, since I do have several photos of the museum during my several visits in the past, maybe this is the best time to share my experience while spreading the good news.

Now why would I be excited even if I don’t plan on visiting soon? That is because, as mentioned before on my previous blogs, Manila is my favorite city. And a big part of why I love Manila is because of the places that makes Manila, Manila. I’m also excited that this is a sign that we are getting past our recent hard lockdown, and hopefully with the lessons we’ve learned throughout the past year and with the increase (and hopefully stable) supply of vaccine, we might have a lot of normalcy back before the year ends. The gym’s are reopening, dine-ins are increasing in capacity, travel is getting a more lenient, but this.. this news is what makes me more happy.

Admittedly, I myself love learning about history. Whether It be watching a documentary or reading an article, it always fascinates me how rich our history and the world’s history is. How much we can actually learn and better understand the things happening in our present by just studying and trying to know about our past – may it be about evolution, science, conflict or Art. And this is why I am excited, excited not just for me but specially for the kids (well 15 years old and above because of the Pandemic), that they can actually have more options to start learning and exploring again outside their homes / computer.
For all of you who don’t know. The National Museum of the Philippines is actually composed of several museums – The National Museum of Fina Arts (Manila), The National Museum of Anthropology (Manila), The National Museum of Natural History(Manila), National Planetarium (Manila), and numerous regional museums outside Metro Manila.

Now I said at the start that I wrote this blog to share my experience about the museum but… should I? All I know is that I immensely enjoy and learned a lot during my (several) times in there and that you should definitely gave the National Museum a visit. Having said that, with the current pandemic we are still in, there are some rules and regulations we must follow. I believe you need to have an advance online booking which you can do here. But just to be sure, just head out to the National Museum’s Facebook page and website, or send your inquiries through inquiry@nationalmuseumph.gov.ph.
P.S. Remember, stay safe and be sure to follow all minimum health protocols to stop the spread of the virus. š
